GENERAL INFORMATION ON VISAS

When applying for visa, please, be advised that the permission to enter the Russian Federation is a courtesy of the State.

In accordance with the International Law, the Consular Department in certain cases reserves the right to consider your visa applications as long as it feels necessary.

Visa can be denied if the Consular Department has serious reasons to believe that the Applicant's visit to the Russian Federation is not desirable, and the disclosure of the reason for the denial can be withheld.

Visa processing fees received from the applicant are not subject for reimbursement in case of subsequent refusal.

The Consular Department of the Embassy bears no responsibility for the errors in visas, which were not brought to his attention before departure from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

According to the bilateral agreement between the Russian Federation and Islamic Republic of Pakistan the holders of Diplomatic and Official passports do not need to obtain a visa.

Guests of the employees of the Foreign Diplomatic and Consular Missions in Russia are advised to obtain an invitation or verbal note from the Mission addressed to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Children apply for separate visas if they travel on their own passports. Non-traveling parents must confirm in an affidavit their consent for their children's travel. If the child's surname differs from that of his (her) parents, a copy of the child's birth certificate must be enclosed.

The Consular Department of the Embassy does not issue visas to any other CIS and former Soviet Union republics.

Travelers who are planning to stay in Russia for a period of more than 90 days must attach a copy of an HIV test certificate to their application papers. The accredited hospitals are:

Medical insurance is officially required for all travelers, except holders of Diplomatic and Official passports. You can get acceptable insurance from Liberty Insurance Representative in Islamabad House # 8, Street 20, F-7/2, Islamabad, Tel.+92-51-2609264

Passport must be valid no less then 6 months after the date of visa expiry. It should contain at least two blank pages. The signature or the thumb impression of the bearer should be on page 2 of a Pakistani passport. If an applicant has previous passports, he should submit all of them. If a previous passport was lost, FIR in English language from the nearest police station should be attached.

The photo, sticked to the application form should be 3.5 x 4.5 cm on a white background and not bigger than the frame on the application form. (NOT STAPPLED, BUT GLUED).

HOW TO APPLY

One should apply personally at the Consular Department or through its official representative. In that case a representative has to provide Authority Letter.

Visa Application form is to be filled in by the Applicant on-line www.visa.kdmid.ru. After filling the form, the system will allow you to download and print it. Application form must be printed in A4 page (210x297 mm). Open the file in Adobe Reader, use FILE menu, then Print. In a new Printing window in Page handling check next options: In page scalling choose NONE, do not mark Auto rotate and center. The applicant should sign the form personally.

USA, UK, Canada and Georgia passport holders are to fill in SPECIAL QUESTIONNAIRE.

Consular Department reserves the right to invite the applicants in person for an interview and ask questions on personal, financial, business or corporate related issues as well as on their Russian contacts and partners.

TOURIST VISA

Russian Tourist Visa can be single-entry or double-entry and is issued for no longer than 30 days.

For a Tourist Visa, please submit:

1. Duly completed visa application form (www.visa.kdmid.ru) with a sticked photo.

2. Valid passport.

3. Original Tourist Voucher and Original Tourist Confirmation (in Russian language) of acceptance from a Russian travel agency or a hotel (not a booking), registered with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The confirmation must contain the agency's reference number and registration number. In Islamabad you can get it from Soviet Consultants +92(0)51-2609265. see Example

4. Original Police Character Certificate with the contact number of issuing authority.

5. Two way confirmed ticket with fixed dates.

PRIVATE VISA
(visits to relatives or friends)

Private Visa is issued for no longer than 90 days and valid for single or double entry.

For a Private Visa, please submit:

1. Duly completed visa application form (www.visa.kdmid.ru) with a sticked photo.

2. Valid passport.

3. Original Invitation Letter, issued by the Immigration office in Russia on the request of your friend or relative. see Example

4.Original Police Character Certificate with the contact number of issuing authority.

5. The bank statement of the person who invites the applicant or the applicants bank statement.

6. Copy of the valid passport of the person who invites you.

7. Original letter from the person who invites you, that he/she takes full responsibility for your staying in the Russian Federation.

8. Travel insurance.

In case, Applicants wife/husband has Russian Nationality and are traveling together it is possible to obtain a Private visa without Original invitation. It is required to fill the request and visit visa section together. see Example.

BUSINESS VISA
(single-entry visa, double-entry visa, multiple-entries visa)

Single-entry and double-entry Business Visas are issued for no longer than 90 days.

Multiple-entry Business Visa is issued for up to 1 year, but valid 90 days of every 180.

For a Business Visa, please submit:

1. Duly completed visa application form (www.visa.kdmid.ru) with a sticked photo

2. Valid passport.

3. Original Invitation Letter. It is issued by the Immigration office in Russia on the request of your business partner. see Example

4. Bank statement.

5. Registration certificate in the local chamber of commerce.

6. National tax payment number certificate.

7. Company's authorization letter.

8. Original Police Character Certificate with the contact number of issuing authority.

9. HIV test. (For those travelers, whose visa will be valid for more than 90 days)

10. Travel insurance.

WORKING VISA

For a Working Visa, please submit:

1. Duly completed visa application form (www.visa.kdmid.ru) with a sticked photo

2. Valid passport.

3. Original Invitation Letter. It is issued by the Immigration office in Russia on the request of the company which is hiring you. see Example

4. The original letter from the organization which hires you with its full information on registration in the Russian Federation.

5. Original contract or agreement with host company.

6. Original Police Character Certificate with the contact number of issuing authority.

TRANSIT VISA

Transit Visa permits to travel through the Russian territory without stay.

In accordance to your tickets, visa can be issued for up to 72 hours, if you travel by air, or for up to 10 days, if using other means of transportation.

For a Transit Visa, please, submit:

1. Duly completed visa application form (www.visa.kdmid.ru) with a sticked photo

2. Valid passport.

3. Original return confirmed ticket with fixed dates.

4. Valid visa of the country of destination.

5. Original Police Character Certificate with the contact number of issuing authority.

STUDENT VISA

For a Student Visa, please, submit:

1. Duly completed visa application form (www.visa.kdmid.ru) with a sticked photo

2. Valid passport.

3. Original invitation from the institute/university/academy issued by the concerned Ministries of the Russian Federation. see Example

4. Academics certificates. It must be attested by the Ministry of Education of Pakistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and translated into Russian language.

5. HIV test certificate

6. Medical fitness certificate

7. Up-to-date bank statement. If it is bank statement not of applicant but of any sponsor or relative, there should be sponsor's letter (affidavit).

8. Original Police Character Certificate with the contact number of issuing authority.

9. Travel insurance.

VISA FEE

For Pakistani citizens the fee is:

1. Single entry/transit visa Rs. 9000 (issued in one week after the application date).

2. Single entry/transit visa Rs. 17500 (issued in next working day) URGENT.

3. Double/Multiple entry visa Rs. 18000 (issued in one week after the application date)

4. Double/Multiple entry visa Rs. 26500 (issued in next working day) URGENT.

Same day visa issuance is not possible.

DATES OF PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Consular Department is open for visitors on Tuesday and Thursday from 09.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. except public holidays.

Department will be closed for public holidays on: from 31 December till 10 January - New Year's Holiday, 23 February - Army Day, 8 March - Women's Day, 1 May - Labour Day, 9 May - Victory Day, 12 June - Russian National Day, 4 November Day of Unity.

TRANSLATION SERVICE

In most cases, Russian authorities or organizations do not accept public documents, which originate in Pakistan and to be used in the Russian Federation, unless they are translated from Urdu and English into Russian and certified by the Consular Department in Islamabad or Russian Consulate General in Karachi.

The Consular Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation doesnt provide any translations. You can do it in National University of Modern Languages.

The fees for certification of provided translations are:

- from English into Russian: 5500 Pakistani rupees per one page

- from Russian into English: 7500 Pakistani rupees per one page.

All the payments are accepted only in cash in Pakistani Rupees in Consular Department

All the documents, submitted for translation must be typed

How much money in foreign currency can I bring to Russia?

You can legally bring to Russia any amount of cash money, however you are required to declare a sum that is more than $10.000 (or equivalent).

You can legally bring out of Russia up to $10.000 in cash. If you have more, the rest of the sum must be accompanied by a special certificate named: Permission to export currency issued by a Russian bank.

Are there Currency Exchange offices in Russia?

Yes, there are. You can legally exchange foreign currency in Russian banks.

Are there any restrictions on the travel checks (Thomas Cook, American Express, Visa etc.) or credit cards in Russia?

No, there are no restrictions. Credit cards and travel checks are not to be declared and can be used freely. Russian banks can cash your travel checks. You can also buy travel checks in Russian banks.

I take pills. Is it OK to bring medical drugs to Russia?

Yes, in reasonable quantities for personal consumption.

What are the visa requirements for the citizens of the former USSR?

No visa required for the citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Moldavia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

When in Russia, can I change my visa status (i.e. from tourist to business or from business to educational and vice versa)?

No, you cannot change your visa status being in Russia. In order to do that, you have to leave the country and re-enter on different visa. There is no visa extension possibility.

I am in Russia. What to do in emergency? In emergency, please, contact the nearest Consular Office or the Embassy of your country or Russian authorities.
